On March 31, 2021, our District 4 City Councilmember, Katie Valenzuela led a meeting about the new Safe Ground Site at W/X & 6th. Her team also shared other sites they would like to open up soon. These are indicated on the map above. Several sites are planned from Miller Park, through the W/X to Alhambra. Green stars are current Safe Ground/shelter locations, yellow stars are potential sites on public land, and red stars are potential sites on private land.
The LPCA will continue to collaborate with our city councilmember and leaders to ensure the viewpoints of neighbors and local businesses are included in this discussion. We believe that collaboration, transparency and a clear understanding of how all community members will be impacted should be on the table. To achieve success in this endeavor, it will take working together, communication and clear expectations from every stakeholder.
Neighbors are welcome to join us. The D4 Homeless Task Force is now moving into their next steps which include collecting community feedback. If you have any questions, concerns or interest in getting more involved, please contact us at; communications@landpark.org
If you would like to reach out to our Councilmember directly, below is her information.
