McClatchy HISP students need to fill volunteer hours before the month of January is over. Land Park neighbors with physical challenges need help finishing a home project could use some youth & strength. So we teamed up for a win/win and are hosting Spring Cleaning Day on January 23rd. This is a pilot program, and if it is successful, it may happen again!
Two volunteer students will be scheduled to come to a household for 1 – 2 hours and support with projects like:
- Removing an item from the house or garage for a scheduled city pick up. Items can include furniture such as chairs, couches or tables. Mattresses and boxed items can also be removed. Please NO heavy kitchen appliances such as ovens or refrigerators.
- Help cleaning out a garage including; boxing and moving items out for city removal, sweeping and organizing.
- A specific project that requires more than one person to complete, like hanging a picture or helping move a table.

Please note: Work cannot include extremely heavy items that require a professional to lift. This includes projects like taking very heavy furniture down stairs and large kitchen appliances. Also toxic chemicals cannot be touched or removed by the volunteers. This event is to support those who are struggling to get a project done. It is not meant to use volunteers as free labor for projects you normally pay for like housekeeping, car washing, etc.
