We received this important community message from SacPD Lieutenant Brian Kinney on January 13, 2022:

I wanted to share a change in the jail booking policy that takes effect immediately. Due to the increase in COVID cases within the jail, the jail will no longer be accepting most misdemeanor bookings. This will have an impact on how we normally would address those under arrest for misdemeanor crimes. Unfortunately, most people under arrest for misdemeanor crimes that would normally be booked into jail, will now have to be released on a citation with a promise to appear at a later date. This does not affect domestic violence or DUI arrests. This policy will remain in effect until the number of infections subside.

We’ve also been informed the county jail is letting many prisoners out early due to a rise in COVID cases in jail. Both decisions were made by the County Sheriff’s office. We’ve reached out to ask Land Park’s County Supervisor Patrick Kennedy about current COVID protocols in the jail system and, what are the vaccination requirements for new prisoners.

This post is meant to be informational. We will provide updates on this situation if possible.
