NEWS

Our SacPD Heroes are working hard and reaching out to the community in several ways this month. Here is the latest community engagement report from Captain Adam Green:

Police and Local Business Provide a Safe Place for Victims to Report Abuse:

SacPD and local business are teaming up to help victims find a safe place to call police and report crimes of abuse and more. To review the details, click on the outreach and engagement newsletter;SPD Safe Place Program

Read Across America

Over the last week, our department has been participating in the annual Read Across America event. Lt. Chandler jumped on this opportunity and has taken time almost every day to read (through virtual formats) to a handful of local elementary classrooms! It has been an awesome way for us to engage with youth in our community. I am not sure who has enjoyed it more, Lt. Chandler or the students and their teachers! Thank you to all of the schools who invited us into their classrooms.

Engagement Academy

SPD will be hosting our 2021 Engagement Academy. Currently, the program is being planned as a virtual format. This 6-week program is a great way to learn more about SPD, what are officers are confronted with, and what steps we take to assure service, professionalism, accountability, and transparency in our community. This 6-week program is open to all of our community members and I would highly recommend you inquire if you are interested. If you are interested in participating please send an email to Outreach@sacpd.org or call 916-808-0844.

South Command Lieutenants

It should come as no surprise that South Command Lieutenants are some of the best lieutenants in the business, and as such, they are hard to hang on to forever. Lt. Galliano was recently selected to fill a new position within the department overseeing our Professional Standards Unit. This is a great opportunity for him and I know that he will do an outstanding job in this new role making our department better. Please feel free to send him an email congratulating him on this accomplishment. Tomorrow will be his official last day in our command.

I know this will be a disappointment for our 4C residents! I am happy to report that Lt. Brian Kinney will be taking over geographical responsibility for our 4C neighborhoods. Brian is a great lieutenant and great person and will do an outstanding job serving the Pocket Greenhaven and SLP communities!

Joining our team on late watch for the next four months is Acting Lieutenant Gerald Landberg. A/Lt. Landberg comes to us with a wealth of experience and knowledge. We are very fortunate to have him as part of our team; his first day (night actually) with South Command will be on Saturday the 13th!

Thank you and stay connected! As always, we are PROUD to serve such a great community!
