Tower Records Site UpdateTower Records Site Update
The old Tower Records building is now a thing of the past but, not before the site’s owner / developer, Jon Gianulias, had the murals photographed for the community archives and potential use in the theme and branding graphics project under contract by the Greater Broadway Business Partnership. Applications and rollout for the Tower District can be expected this spring.
In the meantime, the site will now be clean and be kept free of the encampments that plagued it this fall. As for its future, Jon and his company, CORE Development, are working with the firm William & Paddon architects to design a landmark building worthy of this gateway location. While still in the preliminary design stage, the mixed-use ground floor is planned for restaurants and boutiques with terraced living units above.
LPCA is working with CORE on this project and with the Business Partnership to develop a vision for Broadway and a unique application of the City’s Neighborhood Commercial Corridor Design Guidelines.
