Happy Holidays to everyone! It’s hard to believe that 2022 is almost here. I hope everyone gets to enjoy some down time with family and friends. SPD has been hard at work making sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday season.

As we get ready for next year, I want to make sure that you are receiving information that is useful for you. If you would like to see anything added to this report, please let me know.

I have attached the most recent Monthly Chief’s Report from November: Monthly Chief’s Report – November 2021

Our officers continue to do great work and make proactive arrests.

Our officers continue to do great work in our communities. Here are a few examples of some great community engagements we had along with some notable investigations:

On 12/2/21, Motor Officers teamed with our POP and GET teams for traffic enforcement along the upper Land Park corridor. Officers conducted 58 traffic stops that resulted in 21 citations. We plan to conduct similar coordinated efforts next year throughout the South Command.

On 12/4/21, several of our patrol officers participated in the Holiday Toy Drive hosted by Councilmember Jennings and the Pocket Greenhaven Community Association. Officers were able to make a large toy donation and spend so time with the community.

On 12/9/21, in the early morning hours, officers conducted a traffic stop at 29th St / Florin Rd. During a search of the vehicle, a loaded pistol with the serial numbers scratched off was located. The person in possession was arrested.

On 12/15/21, our POP team concluded a months long investigation into catalytic converter thefts in the region. During the service of a search warrant in the 7300 block of Meadowgate Dr, officers recovered 40 stolen catalytic converters and three firearms. One subject was taken into custody as a result.

I wanted to conclude with an incident that occurred on 11/28/21 in our East Area. This was on officer involved shooting that highlights not only the dangers our officers face on a daily basis, but also the efforts we take to resolve situations peacefully.
