Our “Lady of the Lake,” Judy continues to work with other volunteers to help the waterfowl in Sacramento’s parks. Even when injured, a duck or goose can be difficult to catch! Right now Judy and Christy are fundraising to buy a “net gun” to help make the task easier. Here is a story where a net gun was used to catch an injured bird in Land Park; https://sacramento.cbslocal.com/2021/03/17/rescuers-save-goose-hook-land-park/

As the story explains, fishing line and hooks continue to be the number one reason a duck or goose is injured in our parks. If you see random fishing line, hooks or other gear, please be a good neighbor and pick it up. The wildlife rescuer in the video is not always available to support with his net gun. Another easily accessible gun would help Judy and her team rescue geese and ducks quicker, and in turn, get them medical care quicker too!
