This message is from Captain Daniel Monk SacPD South Command

Please see the attached monthly Chief’s report.  As you can see, we have had a little reduction in shotspotter calls in the south area, but shootings and firearms arrests citywide remain much higher than last year.

I’ve attached a recent PSA our PIO team put together.   As the holiday season is upon us, I want to try and ensure a safe shopping season for everyone.  The PSA includes a few tips on reducing package theft.  Package Theft

Lastly, It is with a heavy heart that I let you know we are investigating a double homicide that occurred last night, and one of the victims is a child.  Yesterday, at around 10:20PM, we responded to the 2600 block of 5th Street for reports of a shooting.  Upon our arrival, our officers located two gunshot victims.  Despite emergency medical aid efforts by our officers and fire personnel, both victims succumbed to their injuries.  Our patrol officers, crime scene investigators, and detectives are working diligently to determine why this tragic event occurred.  I am confident that the individual(s) responsible for these acts will be held accountable.  I will keep you posted as more information becomes available.
