NEWS

This month, the Land Park News features a story about illegal fishing in our parks and the impact it has on our ducks and geese.  We would like to specifically thank Lance Armstrong on his very informative and balanced story (page 2). Although the LPCA does not manage William Land Park, we do work with city parks to advocate for it. This includes choosing projects to help increase the quality of life for all people and wildlife who enjoy it.

We’d also like to thank City Parks Superintendent Tony Ulep for sharing details about why the No Fishing signs are up and the history behind it.

Another article of interest in is the story on page 14 called “Taking Sacramento to 100% Electric – Is SMUD ready for this?”  Jennifer Holden is the leader of Mangan Park Neighborhood Association. Her community had questions about the impact eliminating all gas in their homes will have on them, so Jennifer looked into it. D4 Councilmember Katie Valenzuela is a strong Climate Change issue supporter, yet she doesn’t agree with City Council’s efforts to approve the 2040 General Plan as it stands right now. That should tell us something.

The Land Park Community Association will continue to provide information about these important topics. To learn how our Land Use Committee is working on the R1 Zoning portion of the 2040 General Plan, go to their informational page at: https://landpark.wpengine.com/committees/committees/land-use-committee/
