The attached report reflects Crime Stats for November 2020is from our South Sacramento Police Department. Captain Adam Green’s message is below.     Monthly Chief’s Report – November 2020

Good Afternoon,

I hope this finds everyone well and healthy. We are all well here at the Police Department. I wanted to share a couple of items with you.

November Chief’s Report
Attached you will find the November monthly Chief’s Report which includes some city-wide data on police calls, Shot Spotter activations, and response times. When you look at the report you will see that overall calls into the communications center are down slightly but calls related to mental health are continuing to increase. This is an indicator of the value of the development of the City’s Office of Community Response.

Here are a couple other notes from the report:

  • Shot Spotter (gunshot detection) calls are up. Consistent with the overall increase in violent crime in our city.
  • The number of persons shot is up 31% and the firearms seized this year is up 36%.
  • Assaults on officers and resisting arrest are up 6%.
  • The average number of officers working each month is up by 3% (This is a slow but positive increase. Tomorrow 33 new academy graduates will be sworn in with SPD, unfortunately due to COVID they will not be able to participate in a traditional graduation ceremony.)

South Command Lieutenant Changes

Come the beginning of the year we will have a couple changes with our lieutenants here at South Command. Lt. Harrington was selected for a new specialty assignment out of our central command. He will be overseeing large-scale planned events. While we will miss him greatly, his selection was well deserved and he is well suited for the role. Please wish him well.

Lt. Galliano will be moving off of late-shift and filling the vacant dayshift spot left by Harrington moving. Lt. Bullard will be coming to South Command and taking over late watch with SMT off. Lt. Bullard is a great addition to our station and we are fortunate to be adding him to our team. Lt. Bullard brings a wealth of experience and a great personality and demeanor. He has worked out of South Command in the past and is familiar with our community. Lt. Galliano will continue to be the Area Lieutenant for Police District 4C and Lt. Bullard will be the new Area Lieutenant for Police Districts 5B and 5C.

Fire Department and County Medical Director Recognize Two South Command Officers for Life Saving

Last week the Sacramento Medical Director and the Sacramento Fire Chief recognized two of our South Command Officers for taking swift action with a victim who suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The Fire Chief and Medical Director agreed that had it not been for the life saving measures of our officers who used a tourniquet as well as other medical interventions, the victim would have died. This is just one example of the many incredible acts of service by our South Command Officers.

Thank you very much! Take care and stay connected!

Adam
