NEWS

Imagine one day your neighborhood thoroughfares are calm, and the next is nothing but gridlock. What if riding a bike or scooter becomes a risk instead of a fun experience?  As the City of Sacramento plans ahead for a new bridge connecting Broadway to West Sacramento, and continues to review a new “road diet” around those same streets, environmental and safety concerns are being set on the sidelines.

Curtis Park, Upper Land Park and Land Park’s Land Use leaders continue to collaborate with city staff to share environmental impacts and offer solutions for a smarter outcome on our local corridors. If the goal of the city is to make our streets more bike-friendly, walkable and environmentally safe, why aren’t they addressing the Environmental Impact Reports? Once the new Broadway bridge is underway and plans are complete, it will be too late to review these serious concerns.

To review the details, you can see the recent letter sent to the city by our neighborhood Land Use leaders: W.Sac Broadway Bridge – LPCA FEIR Position 08Aug 2022 copy

Also, an email with a list of problems and suggested solutions was sent to our City Council Members Rick Jennings and Katie Valenzuela:
