NEWS

If you are not aware, Curtis Park has been struggling with a dispute over dog parks vs. kid parks. Our District 7 City Councilman Rick Jennings, realized there are not enough dog parks in any of our neighborhoods. With the support of his Chief of Staff, Dennis Rogers they are taking a pro-active approach to this problem.

On July 19th, the city hosted an event in Curtis Park. There was a map of proposed dog parks throughout our district neighborhoods. People had the opportunity to make choices where the best sites would be. Here is a link to the SCNA website and listing of proposed dog parks: https://sierra2.org/potential-dog-park-maps-now-available/. Please note only ONE location will be chosen for a dog park in each of our neighborhoods.

And FYI, we’ve requested Rick Jennings add the old Pony Ride spot area near Funderland as another option for Land Park.

This is the beginning of the process and the first meeting. The LPCA has asked that Rick Jennings’ team to keep us informed so we can share upcoming discussions about dog park locations with the community. In the meantime, comments can be submitted by email to sierra2greenpark@cityofsacramento.org by 5 p.m. Monday, July 31.
